Mr and Mrs Smith（噂のカップル、ブラッド＝ピットとアンジェリーナ＝ジョリー主演）のプロデューサーのLucas FosterがAll Aboutのインタビューからの情報です。次はConstantineのAkiva [Goldsman] と「The Night Watchman」を制作する予定だそうです。Constatnineのインタビューでもキアヌがさかんに Akivaさんにラブコールしていましたが、実ってほしいですね。

TVスポットの音楽

ＴＶスポットの音楽に惹かれてコンスタンティンの映画に行っている方も多いと思いますが、音楽を作曲されたのは荒木コースケさんで、荒木コースケさんのサイトでConstantineの音楽（30秒ほど)を聞くことができます。またこちらでその曲のタイトルを募集しています(2005年4月30日時点)。

　コミック「ヘルブレイザー」は読んだことがあったのですか？また、コミックの主人公の出身地がイギリスだったのが、映画ではアメリカに変更になりましたか、この変更について、どう思いましたか？

　Keanu:僕は脚本がくるまでまったく「コンスタンティン」を知らなかったんだ。脚本がきたときには既にキャラクターのプロフィールはロンドン出身で舞台設定もイギリスだったんだが、既に変更されていた。だから、変更されていたことを知らなかった。僕は脚本を読んで、この仕事として、自分でこの役柄に取り組んだんだ。「コンスタンティン」の本質が何かということが僕にとって重要なことだったんだ。この映画はそれがすべてだ。だから、僕たちは、その本質を見失わないように、映画製作に一所懸命取り組んだんだ。この作品の本質はこんな感じかな。ハードエッジで、ハードボイルトで、皮肉で厭世的な世界観、宿命的で、ニヒリスティック（虚無主義的）で、ハートはあるけど自己中心（笑）。コミックのファンには映画を作るときに、コミックの魅力を切り捨てたとは思ってほしくないんだ。

ロサンゼルス──ウィル・スミスの新作ラブコメディ「Hitch」が、１８─２０日の北米週末興行収入で３１８０万ドル（約３３億７０００万円）を売り上げ、２週連続で首位だった。
ブルネイで上映禁止となったキアヌ・リーブスの新作「コンスタンティン」は、３０５０万ドル（約３２億３０００万円）で、初登場２位。

Francis Lawrence: 彼とぼくはいっしょに聖職者に会って話を聞いた。私たちはエクソシズム（悪魔払い）に使われる何か変わった文句や韻文を聞きたかったんだ。我々はMel GibsonのThe Passion of the Christ（邦題：「パッション」）に深く関わった人を紹介してもらえた。彼にはKeanuのラテン語をずいぶん助けてもらった。また腫瘍学の研究者にも会いに行って肺がんについて教えてもらった。咳をするとどんな風になるかなんかをね。撮影時に彼の肺がんが悪化していく状態を意識して撮影した。そのときは私たちが強制して吸わせた煙草のせいで、青ざめて見えたよ。

ニコラス・ケイジ、「コンスタンティン」になる夢を捨てる？

　俳優ニコラス・ケイジが超レアものも含む400冊のコミックを大放出していました。これらは2002年10月11日〜13日に行われるコレクター大会、ダラス・コミコンでオークションにかけられたそうです。　ニコラス・ケイジが放出するコミックのリストの中には、スーパーマンが初めて登場した伝説の「アクションコミックス」第一号のほか、バットマン、キャプテン・アメリカ、グリーンランタンなどの初登場号も含まれるそう。　主催者側は「非常にコンディションがいい、揃ったコレクション。総価格は億単位では」と語っています。

　自分の芸名をスーパーヒーローのルーク・ケイジ（マーヴルコミックス「パワーマン」に登場）に、ちなんだくらいのコミックヒーロー好きだったそうですが、、「スーパーマン」「ゴーストライダー」「コンスタンティン」と、コミックヒーローものの主演映画企画をたてつづけに降板していました。（ニコラス＝ケイジが降板するたびにキアヌにオファーがきていたような）

　ニコラス・ケイジがオークションで得た総額が予想を上回る160万ドル（約１億9800万円）。　特にオークションの目玉であったスーパーマンの初登場号、「アクションコミックス」１号は8万6250ドル（約1070万円）で落札、バットマンの相棒ロビンの初登場号である「ディテクティブコミックス」38号は12万1000ドル（約1500万円）、史上初のスーパーヒーローチームが登場した「オールスターコミックス」3号が4万5000ドル（約558万円）の値がつくなどして、大きな話題となったそうです。

Constantineの映画の中でキアヌが身に付けているのはOrisというブランドのオリス・クラシック・モデル(商品番号： 633 7490 4061LS　定価52,500円）だそうです。またこのブランドはニコラス＝ケイジ、メグ＝ライアン、ハリソン＝フォードといったハリウッドの俳優たちにも愛用されているそうです。

1. この映画は元々Nicolas CageとMTV AWARDS（1991）などを撮影しているTarsem Singh （監督）とが組んで始まったプロジェクトですが、Tarsem Singh が「Nicolas Cageといっしょだと僕の撮りたい映画がつくれない」ということでこのプロジェクトを離れました。そしてNicolas Cageも同様に降板しました。その後Mel Gibson,Hugh Jackman,Kevin Spacyを経てKeanu Reevesに決定しました。また監督はMusic Videoを主に撮影していたFrancis Lawlenceとなりました。Francic Lawlenceの作品

2. 実は原作のタイトルは「Hellraiser（ヘルレイザー）」とするはずだったのですが、既に同名の映画があったため、「HELLBLAZER（ヘルブレイザー）」としたそうです。また、原作の主人公は元々イギリスのリバプール出身の設定でしたが、映画ではカリフォルニア出身となりました。(悪霊ものはイギリスのほうが古びていてドロドロしているほうがよいのですが。。あの燦燦と照るカリフォルニア出身ねぇ(汗)と個人的に思ってしまいます。)
