They held it in Club Madrid which was good, air conditioning! :) The opening band was pretty awesome. 2 woman and 2 men - women in red evening dresses playing the bass and guitar and singing, men playing guitar and drums. They rocked! short intermission for opening band equipment break-down and Dogstar equipment tune-up...then Dogstar arrived on stage.

The first song got interupted by a break in cable connection or something somewhere among Keanu's bass equipment, but the band carried on! GOOD JOB! and quick recovery made by Keanu with a smile. GOOD JOB again! Some new songs and some older songs were played. Keanu and Rob seemed to be having a lot of fun tonight and Bret seemed to sing from his heart. At the end people clapped on and on for more. Bret came out and sang his version of "Solitare Man" also sang by Chris Isaak. He did a great job on that one.

Then they finished with another of their songs. I enjoyed the energy very much. Everyone who came to see them seemed to have had a great time. People towards the front were standing...well, towards the end almost everyone was standing...lol. Anyway, it was a great feeling to have the sounds run through my body, I really didn't want to leave. It seemed to go so fast. I thought I was in there for only an hour or so but when I left I found it had been more like an hour and fourty-five minutes.

This was my first time seeing them or hearing the entirety of their songs so my perseption of the band is extremely fresh and my over-all opinion is - THEY ROCK! :) I want to thank Krix for helping me out to go. It was extremely enjoyable and I'll have to go to one of their concerts again! To DOGSTAR - if you read this, I say ROCK ON guys! You are doing a great job!

There was some jumping goin' on on stage, a woman placed a (looked like) Hieneken beer on stage for Keanu while he played. Drums were a bangin', and lead guitar was a jammin'! I just want to tell everyone that hearing D*'s music while watching them perform live has imprinted a lasting memory that will pop into mind everytime I hear their songs via CD or Radio. D* is a MUST SEE band! :)

Vegas Show was Awesome!!! The Guys where ON last night!!!! -

Sunset Station.....Show was AMAZING the guys where so on Bret's voice is incredible!!!! The show was inside...thank god!! Im not sure but it looked like the show was sold out Bret talked alot between songs kind of explained how they came about...Rob played his heart out...And Keanu was smiling and laughing talking making faces saying thankyou to the crowd because of course whenever he did anything the place went nuts realy checking out the crowd more than Ive ever seen him do.

He went over to bret a few times and they jammed together. They had on there usual rock attire so I won't go into that Brets hair is alitte shorter keanus is a little longer and Rob looks the same. At one I was 3 feet (close enough to rest my arms on the stage and put my beer on it I would say the stage was about4 feet high) from him at times so whenever he said anything I could hear him he is beautiful and those arms OMG!!!... All three of them just played like mad and looked like they were having a great time.

I was not that impressed with the opening band. There should be pictures if they came out pictures where permitted but no flash so we will see if anycame out. Stuff thrown on stage... a script, tee shirt, flowers, one bra,a new york times, and keanu was givin a beer but I don't think he drank in he had two of his own. Security had there hands full trying to keep people off the stage and sitting in front so everyone could see at one point a girl sitting behind us decided to use my husbands shoulders to try and catipult herself onstage and keanu put his hand up as if to say THANK YOU BUT PLEASE DON'T ATTACK ME!!!!

Keanu had both guitars on stage but only played one. They left and Bret came out alone and did Solatary man and another one I don't remember what it was he is sooo good, then rob and keanu came back out and did two more songs they cut the show short the didn't do two songs not sure why.

After the show keanu came out and gave the girl that was sitting behind me (it was someone he knew) a pass and told her to come back and say hi so I got pretty close and he is beautiful!

They didn't come out after the show I heard they bolted out...because nothing was going on backstage. I guess thats it I have to add one more thing this was the second time for me seeing Dogstar and First for my husband and he was VERY impressed Said they sound great live Brets voice is great and man can keanu play that bass and rob is fantastic on the drums...Hes even telling other people about them!!! So thats my take on the evening I hope it makes sense there was so much going on its hard to put it into words.......

A.K.A Die hard for the Dogstar Concert 2nd

About the itinerary of the trip,Please check it 1st.In this trip, my reservation of the airline leaving Japan was updated in to Business class. What was a luck!! But it was only natural that the luck out of controle is the begining of the unfortune. The seat is so big for me that my legs could not reached the floor. And to take the magazines or the newspaper I must WALK.And I am so interested in the facilities of NW and perhaps the fat attendants thought I was an annoying passenger...But because she did not try to listen to my self, I thought she was annoying. It was the unfortunate relationship!!(^^).It happened so often. And I guess I will meet her in the near future.

At 15:00 on 27th July.I arrived at the Sunset Station Hotel.Just as I entered the Casiono area in the Hotel, someone called me.It was Spuddie and her pretty sons and her husband Mark(How are they doing?).Thanks for your calling Spuddie and we met Tess and Krix. in front of Club Madrid where the technical staff were working for setteing Dogstar's instruments. And the bar near the Club Madrid,we saw some friends. There I drunk 2 glasses of margarita whose base is vodka.....I needed something of the energy...And there we saw the Dogstar guys and staff there.

At 19:30 on 27th July,we were allowed to enter into the venue. At 20:00 I was seated in the second row where the height of the stage was about 3 feet and too near the player.I was so surprised. I found Spuddie in the 1st raw and 2 Asian girls next me were Chineses in CA and one of them had the first experience of Dogstar show.I did gurantee that they would had the greatest time.LOL!!If you were in place of me,you would do,too. And no one was seated in half of the 1st raw.And I found Ah-Nutts and Maria in the right!! You got in time!! I think Ah-Nutts will tell us the detail(^^).

The opening band was "Moto bike"(I could not hear clearly) that 1 girl was vocal and another girl played base (perhaps) and 2 other members were guys.I like their music. Especially I liked the drummer because I guess he had the spirit of true artist and always do his best. But I thought the sound effect of bass was too strong in my position.

They finished their play at about 20:30.In the half time Joa and her 2 daughters and her friends were seated.I heared that their airplane was so delayed ,about 3 hours."Everybody die hard for the Dogstar show!!".And then I moved to left.

At 9:00,One of "Tony"s (Sorry, just kidding) adjusted the tune of Bret's guitar. And just as he finished,Dogstar guys began "Alarming".

Set list is the same as House of Bluse show. And I got the name of the piece played before "Denail" there. It's "DZ"

  1. Alarming
  2. Slipping Down
  3. Halo
  4. I Confess
  5. Enemies
  6. Cornerstore
  7. Superstar
  8. Your World
  9. Flowers
  10. Blessed
  11. Swim
  12. A Dream Time
  13. Blown Away
  14. Accoustic("Solitary Man")
  15. 32 stroies
  16. America
  17. DZ (Denail 2 ?)<- New song but they did not play then
  18. 1 minute - jamming
  19. Denial

But I found I could not rock out.I could not shout, clapping.I try to tell the detail...The sound entered into myself but I tried to add something shouting and clapping but they were not suited. And the sound of the bass stuck my brain.I did not know the reason why.But writing this review,I've found it.I guess I was drunk(Still now I am drunk by plum wine). And I could not rock out with them.Robert Pollack wrote in his work "The Missing Moment" that every 0.5 seconds the human realizes the outside world and creates his introspective model,so we loose 0.5 seconds every 1 seconds.I guess I lost 0.8 seconds then.....In short my radar was broken.I tried to navigate by only visual information. For example their had playing their guitar and Rob's stick. But I gave up at "HALO". But luckily I could enjoy listening to their songs without noise (it means my shouthing, some singing and clapping) for the first time in last 2 years. And I could write the visual review.

At first about their fasion,Rob wore white sweat and white half pants.Bret wore black shirt and perhaps black pants,And Keanu with some beard wore black T shirt and black jean pants. Many people took photos and you will enjoy their pictures.I'm so happy that you will enjoy my review with their photos.

And I try to trace my feeling in the show and translate into information. For express I use various way.PLEASE UNDERSTAND the review was from my personal point of view.

I will take up the animation of the bass player. (At first if my review is impolite to him I will apologize so much). At the begining of "Alarming" he was ready and holded down his base like as 1980's tennis player John MacEnroe's returning position. He is left-handed,too and had much talents as a tennis player. For example his supple joints and good reflexes. So many tennis players were so inspired by his playing.Keanu's ready position reminded me of John MacEnroe's reflexes.

And in the fast 8 beat pieces for example "Enemies" and "Blessed","Swim",He stamped on tip toe for rocking like as boxer. And the slow pieces like as "I Confess" He took a step forward like as Shourinji kempo(martial arts is originated in the ancient China.)

He looked so happy, perhaps he looked best of all.I don't know the reason why.Certainly he enjoyed playing the base and stroking to the audience. At one time we were so silent that he said to the audience "Hey!!".At that time the audience responded. And He said something in front of mike,Unfortunately I could not understand at all.(To some one Please support me...)

And in "Superstar" He quit playing at one moment and crouched down with holding base in front of him and grinned. His crouching remind me of Griffin's dance in the beginning of "The Watcher".By the way Japanese fans called his dance "Oni-Keanu-n"("Oni" means Goblin that appears in the falk story.) and I imagined what they said about his behavior. Some of audience laughed.

And after finished "Blessed",He do ad-lib and Rob joined to it!! It was so fabulous 1 minutes.and he walked to Bret and make a funny face with stucking out his tongue. He seemed to encourage Bret, ...but might be just do kidding.

And he was so sweet.Joa's daughter unexpectedly threw her ring toward him.And he realized it and picked up her ring and handed it to her. It's so sweet, and I guess the moment is forever for her(^^).

That's all I think ...And I expected that Ah-Nutts and Spuddie will write great reviews. And Don't you realize that how many pieces they have written?

New pieces are here....

  1. It's too late
  2. Wounded <- This is my facorite,too
  3. Your World <- but it is listed in "Hollywood goes wild"
  4. Blessed
  5. I Confess
  6. Floweres
  7. America
  8. DZ
To Dogstar Guys will you make your new CD next year? I can't wait.

And Dogstar Summer days has gone in this year.I appreciate your scheduling in this summer. And I appreciate the kindness of the fans on this board. Thanks for your caring the girls from far east.I am so happy that I can meet all of the guys.I was happy that I could be there. And thanks to my family and my colleagues that understand me and the achievement of my company that gurantee my income and the peace in the World.Since last September 5 times I went to United States in short term, but I seemed to be so weired. If it was in a state of emergency,I would be in costdoy.I reveal that in this trip I had my belongings examined by the office of the immigrant.I guess the reason why I was seated in the Business Class...(^^; - sweating. But those days were my brilliant Dog Days.

Sunset Station, Henderson, Nevada, July 27, 2001

WOW! Of all the Dogstar shows I had attended, this was my first seated show. I was concerned about how that would work. How can one remain seated at a rock concert? The club seating was very intimate and I had the pleasure of having the best seat in the house in my opinion - front and center (hey Rob! It's me again!)! The stage was low, around 2 1/2 ft. high and the chairs (dining room style, not arena seating) were very close to the stage - my knees touched it! Now that's intimate! There was no equipment in front of me and to my immediate right, although those of us this close (and especially Bret) appeared to make a conscious effort to not hit each other (you know, arms, feet, guitars,...etc.). On more than one occasion I could have played his guitar he was so close to me! There was also a standing-room only section to accommodate additional fans. The seats were assigned which meant no wait for the fans; a nice change of pace. But to remain seated was going to be a challenge.

Let me digress a bit and tell you about Sunset Station. It's a big entity and with the exception of the Gaudi Bar bartenders, the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and fairly well-appointed. Upon my arrival at 3:00 pm I almost immediately bumped into Miho, fresh in from Japan. I accompanied her as she checked in and escorted her to her room. We then went down to the casino to hook up with a few other friends. We saw posters advertising the show. One funny thing to note was that the poster listed Quattro Formaggi and Our Little Visionary but not Happy Ending! I thought these must have been leftover from the 1997 tour but I checked the copyright at the bottom, it said 2001. How funny! Miho and I then met up with Charlie and Heidi at the martini bar. Just as Miho left to take a much needed nap, we were joined by a new friend, Lisa and her husband, Dave, a musician (a very likeable couple). I was interested in hearing Dave's opinion of the band as it had been a while since he had seen them. I hoped he would be pleasantly surprised. The boys came into the bar as well and after they were finished being interviewed and relaxing a bit, as they left the bar they paused to say "hello" and "goodbye" to us. Wasn't that thoughtful? Later, Sandra stopped by the table to give me my ticket and say hello (thanks, dude!) and also to inform us of Ah Nutt's flight problem. You'll have to read Nutt's review for the details, it is almost comical. So our small group enjoyed good conversation, ice water, mixed drinks and martinis while waiting for showtime. Note to Charlie and Heidi: next time, beer and wine; avoid the mixed drinks!

The doors to the stage were opened about 1/2 hour or so before show time. Sandra was to be seated to my left, but she felt so "exposed" that she traded (after the first song) with Heidi, who had no regrets leaving her usual coveted Bret viewing spot. I saw Wrygrass, D*fiend, Ah Nutts, Nena, Miho and a few other familiar faces. I also chatted it up with a new Dogstar fan to my left and a couple who attended the show compliments of Sunset Station. The crowd seemed energetic, eager and polite.

The opening band, a quartet from LA called Motorbike (or something like that), consisted of an even mixture of girls and guys. The lead singer (female) played a variety of instruments including an accordian. The male guitarist (not bad on the eyes) sang a song as well. The group played a very nice instrumental. They were okay. As the lead put it, "we play songs about cars and motorcycles." To me, they were a cross between the Go-go's and The Beach Boys musically. I noticed their drummer was barefoot and the female bassist and lead singer even had a few choreographed moves. After performing nine songs they politely thanked Dogstar for allowing them this opportunity. That was nice of them.

The boys took the stage on time and started their set with.............Alarming! What a surprise! (I'm being facetious here). I managed to score Bret's play list:

Alarming
Slipping Down
Halo
I Confess
Enemies
Cornerstore
Superstar
Your World
Flowers
Blessed
Swim
A Dreamtime
Blown Away
---
Acoustic
America
D2
Denial

The performance was uneventful for the most part. I noticed a few minor technical glitches but nothing noteworthy. The playlist is, unfortunately, all too familiar. It was a good photo op (no flash photography, though) but the stage was well lit, although I am not a fan of colored lighting. As for the enthusiastic audience at this performance, we couldn't help ourselves and despite the efforts of security, we stood and danced for the show. At a brief break between songs toward the beginning of the show, pleas from the audience to Bret to allow us to stand were apparently affirmed and security gave up requesting that we remain seated. Someone threw a white 8 1/2 x 11" package onto the stage. It looked like it contained about 1/2 inch or so of paperwork and apparently Tony didn't notice it from his angle and Bret almost slipped on it. Other than that and a few other small items in Keanu's direction, the stage was free of flying debris.

The boys' energy level was easily seen as quite high and they performed virtually flawlessly. Rob sang along to Enemies and Keanu twirled yet again. Keanu also does this move that is kind of like a stomping hip-walk. It's pretty kewl to watch. Bret worked the stage nicely as did Keanu. They also performed a lengthy instrumental piece that I liked...I forget what it was, but it was nice to watch and nice to listen to. I would have liked it if Bret talked more but he did talk a little and introduced new songs. Bret's acoustic solo of Solitary Man and 32 Stories were priceless to watch and listen to. The Stars and Stripes bass failed to make an appearance (wink-wink to Charlie). At the end, I got a very wet handshake from Rob; Heidi got a pat on the head from him.

The show was fun and high-spirited, the boys performed seemingly effortlessly, the audience was relatively small (I'm guessing 250-300 or so when I last checked about 10 minutes before showtime) and a good time was had by all. This was another tremendous performance by Dogstar - the third in a row. Dave was pleasantly surprised as I had hoped but commented that only one of the new songs was a keeper. I think three of the new songs are keepers but I'll take all four!

I got a few nice pictures including "the boots" and some really nice pictures of Bret. I took quite a few of pictures of Bret and Rob (because there are so few of them out there) and I can't believe that only one of Rob came out (sorry Rob, I tried, I really did!).

Tomorrow's high temperature in Laughlin is predicted to be 113 degrees F....
