Huamark Indoor Stadium Bangkok, Thailand
(11-Oct-2002)

Date:20-Oct-2002
Author:Miho

Yes, I will begin my review of Dogstar shows in Bangkok Thailand. I left Osaka where I'm living at 01:25 in the middle of the night on 10th Oct. Really, I love Kansai International Airport in the middle of the night. Almost of shops are closed and only about 500 people are there, I think.

And I arrived at Bangkok International Airport at 6:00.Time difference between Thailand and Japan is only 2 hours. I had been sleeping well for the whole flight, so I did not wake up till the crew turned the light on after delivery of our breakfast. The middle aged Japanese woman next to me said, "I can't sleep at all. You had a good rest." I asked if I was snoring, but she said "No." What a mannered girl am I! (^^)v

I landed at Bangkok and I decided to go to the hotel near the Huamark. I took a Airport limousine taxi, because I did not understand the circumstances in Thailand. taxi fee was 650 baht. But If you had taken the yellow-green colored "meter taxi",it would have cost about 180 baht.

I arrived at the reserved hotel at 6:30.I thought I needed more rest. But I did not need more,so at 8:00 I went to Siam Square where there is the biggest shopping center in Bangkok. And I called a net-friend who I met for the first time, so we got to know each other soon. So, she was the best guide for me at Bangkok. We had a Thai-stew originated in the northeast of Thailand and saw a movie called "999-9999" with English - subtitles. What was the reason I saw it? Because, I was so interested in a movie made in Thailand. And I like the number 999. I was impressed by the theater facilities in Bangkok. They are better than the theaters we use in Osaka. Sound effects, ticketing...etc(By the way ticket fee is 100 baht.it's one 6th of Japan theater ticket fee.). The photo in left was taken its inside of the theater near the Bangkok Airport.

And we were rambling in Asok street and Times Square or something like that.At last we had a Thai Massage for 2 hours. At a half hour past midnight we said "Good-bye".For more 12 hours we were rambling. Thanks so much my friend.I appreciate your kindness so much!!.
And the next day was when Dogstar would play at the Indoor Studiam. At 6:30 I got up and had a breakfast and looked for my friends Akemi and Yayoi. We met at last at 9:00 o'clock.I was so glad you were safe!!.
After talking for a while, I wanted to go the grand palace by myself, though I have been there 3 times, in the morning I went there by taxi. I could not talk in Thai, so I explained where to go with my imperfect English and the photo of Grand Palace. Finally the driver understood where to go. Of course I wondered what to do if he cheat me. But I did not have to worry about it. He was so honest a man. And It took 45 minutes from my hotel, but taxi fee was 135 baht, including highway fee. Why is it different from Japan? If in Japan, it cost about 3000 bath.
And I came back to the hotel at 12:30 and met Akemi and Yayoi again in the restaurant. We had a lunch there, and we promised to go the venue at 2:00.

We were surprised that the venue was so big. The staff (I think they belong to Channel V? ) were getting ready for shooting shows eraborately. We thought Dogstar show will be aired someday. And the photo in right was the inside of the venue. That photo was not good, sorry. There was 2 big screens in the both side of the stage. Their show were screened on those screens. It was so cool. I thought their show was like as Bon Jovi's show in Osaka Dome in Japan. !!YEY!!

At 15 minutes past 3 o'clock Dog guys entered into the venue.Akemi and Yayoi and me were at the entrance. To be my surprise, A police man riding bike were leading the limousine that our guys were in. The sight was so marvelous. But our bass player seemed to be uncomfortable or tired a little. Sorry for my rudeness, but that sight made me smile. At first Rob realized us and waved to us. (Thanks Rob)

And we began to make a line.2 girls 19 years old came there. And we were talking about ourselves in English. At 5 o'clock I went to my hotel to leave my camera because in Thailand we are not be allowed to have any cameras in the show. I noticed the outside of the venue. more than 300 succor kids were playing succor game on the road. If they were in Japan, their parents would not allow them to play soccer such a way. They divided the road into small space to play street succor. And on the grass, many kids practiced dribbling. So there were no space for walkers. Kids Kids you rock! You have excellent techniques so understand each other and know the way of avoiding troubles. And they concentrated their attentions on it. I became fond of the same feeling as that I had at 12 years old.

I was sure that this Asian tour was sponsored by them and This show was main. The sponsors did various events. It seemed to be very brilliant and heartthrob like as a festival.I thought Dogstar show would be great in such a situation.

At 6:00.We entered the venue. The venue was so big.Akemi and Yayoi ran into the right. And as usual I was standing in front of Bret's mike and Rob's base drums. The Thailand people around me were very sweet. I could not speak in Thai so we communicated with in English mainly.

I delivered Japanese sweets all of them.I hope they liked them so much. And one of the girls said to me "Where are you from? I wonder why don't you speak in Thai." What's a nice girl you are!. And I thought "I was in 1st row,and they gets ready for shooting the show. If possible,I could pretend to be a girl in Bangkok....(with sigh)."

I always would like to know the people attending at the venue,so I was talking to some girls and guys. 2 boys were standing next to me.I asked if they are fan of Keanu Reeves. One boy said "Yes!".And One boys said "I love Keanu Reeves!" and became so bashful.I said "I love, too".But it did not work, because I was a woman.Guys you don't have to feel bashful,I think. It's natural that everyone should love our Dogstar guys.Don't you think so?(^^)

In Thailand they admire their King.So before the show, the song admiring their King flew by. Then I was so interesed in it and I had a heart living Thailand and pray for the prosperity of Thailand. And more than 30 photographers came into between the stage and standing area. They were allowed to take some photo till 3rd song "HALO" finishing.

Several minutes later,Bret and Rob and Keanu appeared. The audience shouted against Keanu. And they play "Alarming" It was my favorite introduction.I would like to listen it for a long time. They played greater than last summer,I think. But too many photographers made our guys nervous. After "Halo" they seemed to be released.

"Now! It'show time!" I thought.I wondered if my voice reached them, but I shouted. "Be Rockin' this time!".Next song was "Enemies".Since more than a year passed I attended at last show in Hendarson.I memorized almost of their set list(^^; - sweating. Before Superstar, Bret would tried to introduce this title with clue seeing Keanu. But I realized the title would be "Superstar" but I pretended to be ignored to shout "What?".But I wonder now that I should have say "Superstar"(^^;),becauase many of the audience have never listened 70's western rock music. But at encore when Bret was singing "Wish you were here",some girls and boys were responding to Bret's voice.

The set list is here
  1. Alarming
  2. Slipping Down
  3. Halo
  4. Enemies
  5. Cornerstore
  6. Superstar
  7. Your World
  8. Return
  9. Flowers
  10. A Dream Time
  11. Swim
  12. I Confess
  13. Goodbye
  14. Blown Away
    (at encore)
  15. Wish you were here
  16. Another acoustic song
  17. America
  18. Blessed !
  19. Denail

I thought that they weren't familar with kind of Dogstar music at all. At first the people seemed not to listen to their music. But the people around me responded to their songs gradually.I think it's genuinely great. Now I think they will like Dogstar's music.Especially Flowers,Blessed,Denial,Your world. Actually my friends said "I wonder how many copies of Happy Ending we have in Thailand.Perhaps we have less 100 copies.

Some article says "I heard a young Thai 'fan' say to a friend: 'All their songs sound the same'". it's no way...

But Dogstar's play was incredible.Bret's guitar technique was so great that at first their interests were focused to our bass player but the people in front of Bret become rocking. And our drummer's technique also was amazing and sensitive! And bass sound was so sweet and gentle totally. Thailand people enjoyed their music so much. And Our bass player introduced Dogstar members to help them understanding."Lead Guitar(or Vocal?) is Bret and the drummer is Rob and me Keanu Reeves,We are DOGSTAR!! Koppun Krap(correct spelling is unknown."Thanks" in Thailand)" after Bret's accoustic. Now I think it was so effective,so it made the people response change.I was moved by their shouting to require encore "Dogstar! Dogstar!"... I thought "Yes! They've learned Dogstar music!!".And Keanu and Bret told they needed responses of the audience. Our bass player counted the pupiles of the supporting eyes.I thought they were so beautiful like as obsidiens. And before playing "Blessed",Bret said to the ladies in front of his mike,"To some beautiful women". It was so nice. Thanks Bret!! I must say that I like "Denail - full version" played in Bangkok best of all "Denail"s.

Dear Dogstar guys..
How many obsidians did you count in this tour ?

At last They greeted by joining their palms together and said "Koppun krap !" in front of Bret's microphone. They were so polite and beloved by Thailand people.
Thanks for your playing powerful show in Bangkok!!Thailand loves you guys Dogstar.
