Keanu's Vigil For Dying Sister

The actor abandoned the set of the new Matrix sequel when he discovered 35-year-old horse-trainer Kim - who has battled the disease for 10 years - had worsened.

(story continues below advertisement)

He then whisked her off to a luxury resort in Hawaii so he can make her final days as comfortable as possible.

There is a full-time chef available and Keanu even organised a 3am massage for her when she ached too much to sleep.

A source says, "They are staying at a $2,700 a night suite at the exclusive Hana-Maui Hotel resort in Hawaii. He's spending a fortune to make her last days as perfect as possible. Keanu is an angel of mercy. He put his life on hold to be there for his sister.

"Keanu would give anything to make Kim better. He is praying for a miracle, but if one doesn't happen he is determined to make her time left comfortable. She is the most important person in the world to him."

NEIL SEAN'S STAR SECRETS

Gossip guru Neil Sean gives us the latest showbiz news:

Strange though it sounds, but wannabe rocker Keanu Reeves could end up playing wacky Ozzy Osbourne in a new movie!

In fact, the "Prince of Darkness" has personally requested it.

The reality TV show The Osbournes, which featured Ozzy and his crazy family, was a mega-hit and studio bosses are now keen to turn his life into a movie.

Keanu is no stranger to music, but his band Dog Star have as yet failed to dent the music scene.

Maybe though with the cult of Ozzy all this could be about to change.

Ozzy's wife Sharon has the last word though.

Pals party for Denzel

USA Today
Tuesday, December 10, 2002

BEVERLY HILLS -- The evening was anything but ordinary for actor Denzel Washington as he was feted by the American Cinematheque at the Beverly Hilton.

"In all my wildest dreams and desires, I never imagined a night like this," Washington said after accepting the organization's 17th annual award for his contributions to the art of the motion picture. "This is amazing. I'm so nervous. I feel like (I'm having) a Halle Berry moment."

Washington didn't lose his composure like Berry did at the Oscars, but he was clearly uncomfortable beforehand as he sipped a beverage on a patio before entering the ballroom.

"Oh, I've got to go to the bathroom so bad," Washington said onstage. "There's no time to get up and go. The camera is on you."

"Let's name 2002 the year of Denzel Washington," said his Philadelphia co-star Tom Hanks, who presented Washington the award.

"Denzel, I love you," said Berry. "Your inspiration has guided me to work harder and to strive for more."

Both Berry and Washington took home Oscars in March.

Others who took the stage and gushed about Washington: host Jamie Foxx, Angela Bassett, Keanu Reeves, Bruce Willis, Ice Cube, Steve Harvey and Ethan Hawke.

Keanu Reeves Reloaded - MTV

From:MTV
(The detail is

He who plays Neo — Keanu Reeves — gives the inside scoop on "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions." The hotly-anticipated sequels are both set for 2003 release.

MTV: What was it like shooting "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" together?

Reeves: It was great. There was a nice continuity between the two films. It didn't really feel like two films, it kind of felt like one film.

MTV: What can people expect from "Reloaded" and "Revolutions"?

Reeves: Our hope, our ambition is to create something that is extraordinary. It's not just about novelty or spectacle; for the directors and everyone involved it's really about telling this story.

[They have] a virtual camera, so it's [using] the camera and moving the camera in ways that a physical camera can't, just changes of perspectives, etc. It's exciting to be a part of that. Hopefully, people will enjoy everyone trying to create. It's been an extraordinary experience to be a part of something [in which] so many creative people are having the opportunity to go as far as they can. The [Wachowski] brothers (the directors) have written scripts as dense, if not more dense, in terms of ideas and emotions, than the first "Matrix." Hopefully, people will like it.

MTV: How much stunt work is actually you?

Reeves: [Stunts are] important to the piece in terms of how you relate to the characters. I know it was one of the hopes of the directors that the actors would be doing as much as they could so they don't have to cut away, so you're really watching these people do what they're doing. For me, it's important to try to do as much [of my own stunts] as I could. There's some things that were beyond my skill, so that was a little dangerous, but I got to do as much as I could. It was quite thrilling to try and do some of the wires, some of the fighting combinations and stuff. My character, Neo, gets to use some weapons, so I got to taste using weapons. That's even a little more intense, because a punch is one thing, but a sword, if you don't duck in time, it's not good.

MTV: How intense was your training for "The Matrix" sequels?

Reeves: It's pretty intense. Basic training was about four months and then I worked with 12 stunt men on one fight every day for about three weeks.

MTV: What happens in that fight scene?

Reeves: It's a fight between Neo and Smith. It takes place in the second film, "Reloaded," and it's basically Neo multi-fighting a bunch of different Smiths. It took about 27 shooting days for a camera, first unit and there was a bunch of other days we call motion capture, which will be integrated with some of the virtual camera stuff that they are doing. When you're watching it, you're seeing people on wires, you're seeing some of the choreography, and folks just trying to put a good fight together, a good fun fight.

MTV: The sequels also have a dance sequence. Describe that process.

Reeves: That was a remarkable few days. We shot that out in Oakland, California with, I think it was like 900 or 1,200 kids, people out dancing. ... There was a wonderful feeling coming from the people who were participating in it, just an excitement. There was drum circles and people doing impromptu concerts and singing. I'm sure a couple people are getting married after those couple of days. It was really quite a rave aspect to it, which was great. I know the brothers were really excited by the enthusiasm shown by the people involved, so it was cool.

MTV: What can we expect from Neo in "The Matrix: Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions"?

Reeves: Neo's journey is a journey continuing on discovery and his responsibilities as The One. [There will be] a little bit more romance. Love, lots of love.

MTV: What is it like to have the two sequels coming out the same year?

Reeves: I haven't seen them yet, but I was there for a lot of what was being done and it's very exciting. It's neat to be a part of something where my friends and peers and people that I know are excited about going to the movies to see these films. I feel very fortunate and lucky to be a part of something like that and something that I'm excited about as well.

MTV: How does it feel to be a part of the trilogy, something people will look back on?

Reeves: I'm going to look back on the experience of making these films as some of my greatest days, I'm sure.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH DOGSTAR

On Air - Is this your first time here in Thailand?

Keanu - Yeah. It's such an extraodinary opportunity to travel here.
Bret - It’s pretty far and I never thought that we could have chance to be here. We're here now, though.
Rob - We’ve never been here before. This’s our first time, really.

On Air - How do you guys feel about flying halfway right from LA. across the world to this country?

Keanu - Tired.. [grinning]
Bret - We took direct flight, no transit, so we felt it took time.
Rob - About 24 hours that we got stuck in the plane.

On Air - Do you think it’s the MUSIC that brought you guys right here right now?

Keanu - Yes. Absolutely.
Bret - Freedom and enjoyment have kept us going this long, and we love to perform. We're here now because of the music we create. It’s like an international language that connects people. No matter where they are.
Rob - And it narrows the space between people. We’re happy with it.

On Air - Well, let me ask Keanu, how do you feel on stage?

Keanu - Just like a ‘dude’, trying to make something best.
Bret - [laughing] I think he’s been doing his best, pretty good job.

On Air - What’s the differece between acting and playing music?

Keanu - Acting is my life and music is myself. I love them both, equally, and am trying to do my best in both.

On Air - How about your new album.. any progress?

Bret - We’ve done more than half of the album and kept working on it little by little.
Rob - We have no idea when it should be completely done. We just keep working on it, editing, revising over n’ over again til we get what we want. Then it's time for it to be released.

On Air - You had sort of a pretty hard time with the first 2 albums, have you ever felt like giving up or anything?

Keanu - Sometimes. But we know we have to keep it up ‘coz we’re doing what we love and what nobody forces us to.
Bret - It’s a rhythm of life. As long as people show up to enjoy the music, that's all that matters.
Rob - I felt a bit depressed at first but when looking back, I think nothing was big deal. It’s just a matter of luck.

On Air - How do you guys usually prepare yourselves before the concert?

Keanu - I do some exercise, pump-up, practice.. Oh, and some meditation to keep my mind right!! [laughing] Bret - I write to my family. (what a joke!?!) Rob - I pray that God would bless us, that we would be safe. (Man! are you gonna go on stage or to battle field??)

On Air - Have you ever come up with any idea to surprise the audiences?

Keanu - Rob might want to go naked all around the stage.. Must be a big surprise, I guess! [laughing]
Bret - I would do some cookery, like dinning there on the stage with all the audiences. Seems pretty much fun.
Rob - Keanu should jump into all the audiences down there and it’d surely be a scuffle all over!! [laughing]

Obviously a little bored of personally saving the human race, battling a malevolent cyber-intelligence and general kickass kung-fu, Keanu Reeves is ditching the mean look for some lighter fare post the Matrix.

And he couldn't get much quirkier if he tried. First up will be an as yet untitled comedy revolving around a love triangle made up by the rather unlikely trio of Reeves, Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. And you did read that right. Swapping the Matrix for a medical ward, Reeves will play a dashing young doctor who treats an ageing lothario played by Nicholson in a script from What Women Want director Nancy Meyers. After suffering a heart attack, Nicholson's character falls in love with his young girlfriend's mother, which is where Keaton comes in as a woman whose mature powers of attraction also ensnares the young doctor. Confused? We think we're meant to be.

Then after this love tussle with the older generation, Keanu's resolutely sticking to the alternative side of the cinematic fence with indie flick Thumbsucker. An adaptation of the novel by Walter Kirn, the movie centres around the misadventures of an orally fixated man whose attempts to break the cycle – including sex, substance abuse, work, religion and fly-fishing – all fail until he tries hypnosis. Definitely one for the non-mainstream drawer, then.

Not content with all this frantic activity, the busy boy will then appear on slightly more familiar ground in Constantine, the adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic "Hellblazer." With all three films scheduled to be shot next year and The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions set to dominate our dreamhouses for most of 2003, Keanu's non too ugly visage will be very hard to miss indeed.

Reeves Joins Nicholson, Keaton in Triangle

Dec. 1
— By Michael Fleming

NEW YORK (Variety) - Keanu Reeves will fill out a love triangle with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton in an untitled comedy that marks one of three films he will shoot next year.

Reeves will also star in "Thumbsucker," an indie adaptation of the Walter Kirn novel, and then move on to the previously announced "Constantine," the adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic "Hellblazer" at Warner Bros.

His back-to-back sequels, "The Matrix: Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions," finished shooting in August, and will be released next May and November, respectively.

The untitled comedy was written by Nancy Meyers, who will also direct the Columbia project. She previously directed "What Women Want" and "The Parent Trap."

Reeves plays a doctor caring for Nicholson, who suffers a heart attack at the house of his young girlfriend's mother. While there, Nicholson's character falls in love with the mom (Keaton). Reeves' character also has designs on the woman and doesn't care that she's 20 years older.

Keaton, with whom Meyers worked in "Father of the Bride" and its sequel, has long been expected to play the man magnet. Frances McDormand is now in negotiations to play Keaton's sister.

"There is a bit of a duel between the men, and she is thrown and flattered by the doctor's attention," said Meyers, who fixed on Reeves for the role after a few meetings.

"He is funny, charming and beautiful to look at, and after doing 'Matrix' for an entire year, it will be fun for him to do a dialogue picture that is comedic and fun. This is a departure from what we're used to seeing in movies, with the older guy and the ridiculously young girl that makes everybody roll their eyes. I find this both hopeful and positive for women."

The quirky "Thumbsucker" follows the misadventures of an orally fixated man whose thumbsucking habit is cured through hypnosis.
