Warner Bros. Pictures & Village Roadshow Pictures to Make Cinema History with Global Unveiling of ``The Matrix Revolutions'' on November 5, Making the Film Available to Fans Around the World at the Same Moment in Time

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 2003--Warner Bros. Pictures:
-- Through IMAX Digital Re-Mastering Technology, Highly Anticipated Film Will Also Debut in IMAX(R) Theatres in the U.S. on November 5, Marking the First Time a Major Live Action Movie is Released Concurrently in 35MM and IMAX's Format

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will unveil "The Matrix Revolutions," the final explosive chapter in the blockbuster "Matrix" trilogy, at the exact same moment in time in every major city around the world on November 5. This unprecedented distribution scenario will make the highly anticipated film available to fans simultaneously at 6 a.m. in Los Angeles, 9 a.m. in New York, 2 p.m. in London, 5 p.m. in Moscow, 11 p.m. in Tokyo and at corresponding times in over 50 additional countries worldwide. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

"Given the enormous popularity and success of the `Matrix' films throughout the international community, we're thrilled that we can bring the final chapter of this amazing trilogy to fans simultaneously around the world," Kwan-Rubinek said. "We thank our exhibitors for their unqualified support in staging this extraordinary event."

"The zero hour simultaneous opening of `Revolutions' once again positions the `Matrix' films as the cutting edge experience in motion pictures," Fellman added. "Audiences came out to see `The Matrix Reloaded' in record numbers, and we appreciate the enthusiasm, collaboration and support of our exhibitors in helping us bring `The Matrix Revolutions' to audiences on November 5."

"We received such an overwhelming response to `Reloaded' from audiences around the globe that the Wachowski Brothers wanted to give our fans the chance to experience the final piece of the `Matrix' puzzle at the same time in every major city worldwide," said Joel Silver, producer of the phenomenal "Matrix" trilogy. "It's an incredibly complex and exciting venture that furthers the Wachowskis' vision and underscores the trilogy's theme of integration."

To date, "The Matrix Reloaded" has earned over $734 million in worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film of 2003 and the highest-grossing R-rated film in history, both domestically and internationally. Additionally, "Reloaded" scored the record for the largest single week ever with $158.2 million and reached $150 million in a record-breaking six days domestically; internationally, it is the 10th highest grossing film of all-time, and is the first film in history to gross more than $100 million in a single weekend.

FANS TO EXPERIENCE "THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS," DIGITALLY RE-MASTERED FOR THE WORLD'S LARGEST SCREENS, AT IMAX THEATRES DAY & DATE WITH FILM'S 35MM RELEASE

In conjunction with the "Revolutions" worldwide distribution event, "The Matrix Revolutions: The IMAX Experience" will debut at IMAX Theatres in the United States on November 5. This marks the first time a major Hollywood live-action event film is released concurrently in 35mm and IMAX's revolutionary 15/70 format.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures previously collaborated with IMAX on the hugely successful release of "The Matrix Reloaded: The IMAX Experience," which debuted on 39 IMAX screens on June 6, launching three weeks after the 35mm theatrical release of "The Matrix Reloaded" on May 15. "The Matrix Reloaded: The IMAX Experience" later expanded to 54 IMAX screens throughout North America and 12 screens internationally, grossing $12.4 million worldwide to date.

"Following the unprecedented audience response and box office performance of `The Matrix Reloaded: The IMAX Experience,' we couldn't be happier to offer fans the chance to see `The Matrix Revolutions: The IMAX Experience' on the same day as we open `Revolutions' in 35mm," Dan Fellman said.

Like "The Matrix Reloaded: The IMAX Experience," "The Matrix Revolutions: The IMAX Experience" has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) through revolutionary and proprietary IMAX(R) DMR(TM) (Digital Re-mastering) technology. IMAX Theatres offer unequalled clarity and intensity of image as audiences experience one of the biggest films of the year on screens up to eight stories tall and 120 feet wide, and surrounded by 12,000 watts of pure digital sound.

In "The Matrix Revolutions," the final chapter in the "Matrix" trilogy, the rebels' long quest for freedom culminates in an explosive battle. As the Machine Army wages devastation on Zion, its citizens mount an aggressive defense -- but can they stave off the relentless swarm of Sentinels long enough for Neo to harness the full extent of his powers and end the war?

Written and directed by the Wachowski Brothers and produced by Joel Silver, "The Matrix Revolutions" stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving and Jada Pinkett Smith.

"The Matrix Revolutions" will be released worldwide on November 5 by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Ordinarily, hearing that Keanu Reeves is considering quitting acting would make us happy. But not this time. According to Peoplenews.com, Reeves is thinking of leaving the biz to care for his sister, Kim, who has leukemia. Reeves has turned his home into a clinic for Kim and rarely leaves her side, sometimes failing to show up on the set of his new movie, "Constantine." The actor is still dealing with the death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, who died in a car accident in 2001. Syme had been treated for depression after giving birth to the couple's stillborn child in 1999.

Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves is depressed and he may quit making movies to take care of his sister, Kim, who has cancer.

According to a Sky News report, 'The Matrix' star痴 sister had been responding positively to treatment. Despite this, however, the leukaemia has returned.

The report says that Reeves earlier this year converted a 」3-million Hollywood mansion into a hospital for her.

Reeves recently celebrated his 39th birthday alone, and co-workers on the set he is working on say that he has become a "virtual recluse". The report quotes a studio insider: "During shooting breaks, unless he has to rehearse or talk to the director, he'll sit alone, often just staring at the ground."

A friend of Reeves told the Sunday Express newspaper: "The diagnosis that it is back has really hit him hard.

"He has taken her to the world's leading specialists but nothing seems to work. It's yet another tragedy in his life and it seems to have pushed him to the edge."

Keanu Reeves to quit movies?

NEW YORK, September 30

Friends of superstar Keanu Reeves fear he may quit Hollywood as he is reportedly devastated by the news that his sister Kim's cancer is back.

The "Matrix" star, along with his family, is said to have been convinced that she had conquered the disease.

Reeves had converted a three million pound Hollywood mansion into a hospital for her earlier this year.

A friend was quoted as telling the Express: "The diagnosis that it is back has really hit him hard. He has taken her to the world's leading specialists but nothing seems to work."

The 39-year-old actor had never really recovered after his girlfriend Jennifer Syme was killed in a car crash two years ago, months after giving birth to their stillborn daughter.

"He's been turning up for work looking like a down-and-out, wearing ragged old clothes and battered Hush Puppies," an insider on the set of his latest movie "Constantine" was quoted as saying.

"One of the shoes had a hole, which he'd covered up with tape and a studio executive made a joke about him being able to afford a new pair.

"But he didn't take the hint. He just turned up the next day wearing the same tattered stuff.

"During breaks in shooting, unless he has to rehearse or talk with the director, he'll sit alone, often just staring at the ground."

Pals of movie superstar Keanu Reeves fear he may end up quitting Hollywood, following the return of his sister's leukaemia.

The Matrix star is devastated by the news that Kim's cancer is back because his family were convinced she had conquered the disease.

And the news is the latest in a long line of tragic events that are sending the 39-year-old actor into a depression, according to Britain's Daily Star Sunday.

Keanu is still emotionally damaged after his on-off girlfriend Jennifer Syme was killed in a car crash in Los Angeles in 2001, just months after she gave birth to their stillborn daughter.

An insider on the set of Keanu's latest movie Constantine says, "He's been turning up for work looking like a down-and-out, wearing ragged old clothes and battered Hush Puppies.

"One of the shoes had a hole, which he'd covered up with tape, and a studio executive made a joke about him being able to afford a new pair.

KEANU A 'VIRTUAL RECLUSE'

Keanu Reeves may quit the movies for the sake of his sick sister whose cancer has returned.

The star of the Matrix films is said to have become a virtual recluse, so depressed that some fear he may not make another film.

Reeves thought sister Kim had conquered leukaemia after she responded to treatment at the £3m Hollywood mansion he had converted into a hospital for her earlier this year.

A friend tells the Sunday Express: "The diagnosis that it is back has really hit him hard.

"He has taken her to the world's leading specialists but nothing seems to work.

"It's yet another tragedy in his life and it seems to have pushed him to the edge."

Reeves, 39, dined alone on his recent birthday, the paper says, and is turning up on the set of his latest film wearing the same tattered clothes and shoes with holes.

One studio insider said: "During shooting breaks, unless he has to rehearse or talk to the director, he'll sit alone, often just staring at the ground."

WHY WON'T KATE SETTLE DOWN? Sep 27 2003

Queen of parties keeps her Mr Reliable waiting

By Barbara Davies

AFLURRY of elegant wedding invitations from Bond Street stationer Smython are said to be winging their way to A-list celebrities on both sides of the Atlantic.

But is it all just wishful thinking?

The bride-to-be has yet to make an appointment for a dress fitting. Rather odd when the wedding is said to have been set for November.

Now it's rumoured that Britain's favourite supermodel, Kate Moss, has postponed the happy day.

BESOTTED: Family man Jefferson looks bored during party atmosphere Kate revels in

She was thought to be all set to marry to magazine publisher Jefferson Hack, the father of her baby daughter Lila Grace.

Not so, says Hack's father Douglas.

"They are not getting married," he said this week. "I think they would have told me if they were."

Friends say that while Jefferson, 31, is desperate to get married and have more children, Queen of Cool Kate is still not ready to settle down.

"Jefferson has been begging Kate to marry him for ages, but she keeps turning him down," says one.

"He also wants another child, but Kate says No." "They have been rowing, particularly because she feels he has been pressurising her into marriage. He is completely mad about Kate and wants her to commit to him, but she keeps knocking him back."

But why is the waif-like beauty still so reluctant to settle down? At 29, a millionairess and a mum, the time seems perfect for her to embrace family life.

Yet, far from giving up her wild-child ways, Kate is throwing herself into the party scene more voraciously than ever.

During the summer, she got to every major event going - the Rolling Stones' gig at London's Astoria, the Glastonbury Festival, the A-list Girosgono perfume bash in Paris and Stella McCartney's wedding on the Isle of Bute.

Then there are the pub visits with Sadie Frost, dinners with celebs such as Keanu Reeves and a recent Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in New York.

Kate has been seen regularly on the arm of Bobby Gillespie, the one-time junkie front-man of rockers Primal Scream.

She drinks, chain-smokes and has sleep-overs with her best friend Sadie, chatting and giggling into the early hours.

It was no surprise this month when Kate was listed as a member of the so-called "Super-Youth" group - the 25-39-year-olds who refuse to grow up. Jefferson, though, would happily swap the party scene for more time at their 」500,000 cottage in the Cotswolds.

His father, a web designer, says: "He is the sort of person who has always wanted to find someone to settle down with, especially now he has got Lila.

"He really loves her. He takes her everywhere. He looks after the baby and is really fabulous with her."

FUN LOVING: Kate isn't ready for early-nights and cups of cocoa yet

But despite their closeness, the middle-class background of public school-educated Jefferson is a world away from Kate's.

He was born in Uruguay, where his father worked for a cigarette firm. Doug met Jefferson's Swiss-born mother during a skiing holiday in the Alps.

While Jefferson stayed on and studied A-levels at Chatham House school near the family home in Ramsgate, Kent, Kate was spotted by a modelling talent scout when she was a 14-year-old pupil at Riddlesdown High School near Croydon in Surrey.

Jefferson grew up with happily married parents but Kate's parents, Peter and Linda, split when she was 12 - which may explain her reluctance to wed.

Her young brother Nick chose to live with his father, while Kate moved into the modest Croydon home of her mother and her new partner, TV repair man Geoff Collman.

Despite earning fees of 」5,000 a day and rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous she slotted in happily when she came home.

Friends believe it was Jeff's solid reliability that attracted her after her heart was broken by Hollywood heart-throb Johnny Depp.

Not so long ago, her wild antics regularly landed her in the headlines. She had her first drink at 12, and the fast life in the catwalk world, where models regularly downed glass after glass of champagne before shows, began to spiral out of control. Kate once said alcohol and drugs helped her to cope.

"It was the only way you could go out night after night and do those boring dinners," she said. "You're working all day and yet you still have to look like you're having a really good time. You're never allowed to be tired."

Five years ago, she checked into the 」300-a-night Priory Clinic after the painful split from Depp. She was devastated that he had quickly settled down and had a child with French actress Vanessa Paradis. So when she met Jefferson four years ago for an interview for his magazine Dazed And Confused, she was attracted to him as he seemed more reliable.

"I think she loves Jeff because he is straightforward, laid back, reliable and knows so many things," says his mother Teresa.

"Jeff will look after her and be faithful. He's had two or three girlfriends but he's not a womaniser. They are so happy."

Friends say Jefferson has a calming influence, but just how much Kate is prepared to be calmed remains to be seen.

They argued on their way to Stella McCartney's wedding last month - yet he is said to have proposed again the same day.

"It is almost as if she is yearning for something she hasn't found with Jefferson," said a family member last week. "I think she misses the danger and excitement she had with Johnny Depp.

"She wants to continue partying, but I imagine that Jefferson will get sick of it."

Musician Tarka Cordell, who dated Kate after her break-up with Depp, says: "Who knows if they will ever marry?

"Jefferson is a great guy. Kate, though, is an entity all to herself. She has survived at the top of the game for 15 years. I can see her carrying on for a long time yet."

Another friend adds: "Kate still adores the bright lights. She loves her daughter, but she's not ready for early nights and cups of cocoa.

"Jefferson will have to accept that or he'll end up losing her."
